Summer Activities
Kids Activities for the summer of 2008
We would like to have a 6 weeks part time summer camp for our kids. We need your feedback immediately. If this is something of an interest to you Please let me know ASAP.
This is what we are thinking: (We brought in someone who is an educator and runs one of the local daycare facilities to help us do an assessment on the viability of doing such a camp for our kids)
- 3 days for 6 weeks. Starting Middle of June and ending Beginning of August
- Part time Camp. 8am to 1 pm
- Fun Camp.
A. The kids will have one trips a week. Swimming ( Appropriate facility, will rent our own if we need to), Zoo, Science Center , Botanical Center , ....etc
B. Movies
- Educational Camp: The kids will have Quran and Arabic Classes everyday.
- Age Groups
4 to 6 yrs old
7 to 9 yrs old or older if there is a demand
- Facilities
Depending on the number of participants. If we have over 30 kids we will try to rent one of the schools, like indian hills and have our camp there
If the interest is low, we will have it at the center
- Teachers
A. We will have enough teachers 8/1 ratio or less
B. All will be with education experience and well know and trusted in the community
C. A principal/ Camp supervisor will be attending all the time
The goal is to have SAFE, EDUCATIONAL, FUN camp for the kids
- fees. We have to have 20 kids minimum to have this camp
The fee will be $3/hrs lunch will not be included except on Friday
- Can we do it Full time. 8 to 5pm for 5 days for 6 weeks? Yes if the interest is there
- Transportation will be hired out to make sure the kids are safe
- we are talking to a Take Wa Do instructor to maybe have him teach our kids in the camp. Once a week for an hour for 6 weeks, we might also have a soccer clinic for the kids during the camp for a week. We are looking into having Art and Craft activities for the kids also and many other fun things for the kids
- Financial assistance will be evaluated and rewarded accordingly.
